VIDI’s systemic solution of the POC6 prototype has been in the field testing with the blind and visually impaired potential users for several months.
The POC6 prototype of the VIDI system uses NVIDIA’s computational advice in its next-generation product with the most powerful artificial intelligence computer in the world while being energy efficient. Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms enable high-speed object detection and provide the ideal solution for a new era based on machine vision technology.
The POC6 of the VIDI system uses an NVIDIA computer as an intelligent accessory that interfaces with the technology of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to the user interface of an Apple smartphone application. A standard two-dimensional camera enables the detection of objects in space from its image stream transmitted to NVIDIA’s computer. In the current solution, the user hears a description of the things detected by the camera plus their location in space.
POC6 tests discover the need for an intelligent camera, which allows for greater flexibility and physical efficiency of the identifications from the stream of images transmitted from the camera.
The started POC7 development is based on the POC6 solution and implementing all the findings during the POC6 tests. The POC7 will bring the VIDI venture to an off-the-shelf solution.
